first let’s clear the popular misconceptions :

1. the US government doesn’t pay, it’s the TRIBAL governments.
2. not all nations offer…

where the tribal money comes from varies from rez to rez and nation to nation. but even when the money originally comes from the federal government, it’s their deal with the BIA, and the the BIA’s deal with us, and you KNOW it’s a miniscule amount compared to what they OWE natives due to treaties.

Federal money is stolen from the citizens, like me, and I don’t owe anyone anything. 

the US government should have considered that when they decided to “buy” a huge chunk of north america’s land then, shouldn’t they?

And what would the poor natives do without all this free money? I guess they would just dwindle and disappear. Why do you have such little faith in the native people? Can’t you see this welfare like state is oppressing them? The native people (not all, but a lot, at least on the rez) are dependent on this welfare. You would think that when you give someone a free education from kindergarten all the way through college that they may be successful. Obviously more money is not the solution. 

Don’t you think government has hurt the natives enough? It is time for these people to start taking responsibility for their brothers and sisters and make something for themselves. Shit, it’s been 200 years. 

ok cracka, it isn’t “free money,” our land was “purchased” meaning it’s literally money that is owed, there is documentation. do you not believe in paying off your credit card debts? considering that the US doesn’t actually come remotely close to honoring the amount they legally promised natives, in fact they give less funding to native communities than anything else i can think of, consider that you got off hella crazy cheap. we are still the ones being legitimately stolen from.

the idea that removing reservations (or forgetting about the treaties which guarantee our ability to live in this land without dying of starvation) would solve ANYTHING is horrific. fuck you that’s our only sovereign land.
